Why is a �1000000 Mega Mosque ,bigger than St Pauls or Wembley, being subsidised by public funding in Dockland

I have just learned of this by e/mail but have heard nothing through the press. It would be interesting to know how many other people are aware and what are the facts. Apparently votes are overwhelmingly in favour of the project which seems odd when little or no government funding goes into supporting church of England places of worship and the National Health service is desperately short of money.This is a democratic society but is it generally known that people people can register their opinion before 18July on the website http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/ScrapMegaMosque/#detail
