What would be a better choice?

they are both really cheap to buy im thinking the best to buy is a hamster because they dont need as much stuff to survive but the hamster and the gerbil are both great pets but its your choice go to the store and see which one you like better,have fun with your new pet and good luck and if your a begginer i would suggest the syrian hamsters they dont bite as much as the dwarf hamsters and easiest to tame have fun.they both live about 2-3 years
