Is Grey hair for social status/position more so that simply aging?

Nice idea, plausible enough to investigate further if you want to. I question the evidence. a) Grey hair and balding are only slightly correlated with age - some men develop either or both when quite young, others neither at 65+. b) I don't know of any past or present culture where grey hair is/was seen as a status symbol. if it were so, high-status individuals would have used dyes to grey their hair artificially in societies where dyes were used for other status purposes e.g. dress codes.
