Could the legalization and heavy taxation of marijuana pay for the Social Security and Medicare programs?
I think the main reason it is still illegal is that so many people worry that it will cause a rise in use by kids. I don't agree with that, but that seems to be what a lot of people think. I don't know how much the money raised by it's taxation would help, but I think it could be considerable. As Mr Danger said, we'd save a LOT of money in law enforcement costs, and just think of what the free market could do with things like paraphernalia. Whole new businesses could be started and help put some people to work.
