Best way to keep a door locked/jammed from the outside so cat won't escape (to hurt other cat) ? ?

Need to keep cat in when I'm not around - how do I lock door - short of installing a new lock - hook & eye? Something less-invasive - don't want to drill if I don't have to - commercial child-proof stoppers won't work - adhesive wears off.
